Logo Progress

After doing a bit of research on leading music channels logo's I had a rough idea of what i wanted for my own. I decided on keeping it simple, with monochrome colours as this makes it stand out the most.
I originally wanted the design to be clean cut and very simple, and so this was my first idea:
I liked how simple this was but after advice from a few classmates i decided that it didn't represent the genre of my TV channel well enough. It looks very plain, which is effective, but looks like an indie/pop genre of tv channels or a more wide ranged channel.

When playing around with paint brush tools on photoshop i came up with this second design. When i originally done it i was trying to get the look of spray paint, portraying the rebelliousness that could be connotated with the genre of music ALT will be showing and promoting. Though i think the desired effect is not achieved with this and just looks messy and poorly executed.

This was the third logo design i done, and my peers collectively said it was the best out of the few. I think the photoshop brush used to write the ALT is effective in the way i wanted the spray pain effect to look, it looks scruffy but neat at the same time and looks more generic to my style of music channel. Though i wasn't entirely happy with it overall, i though it needed something a bit more to make it more distinctive as this logo design looks similar to the MTV one which in my opinion is a bit boring and bland.

This is the finished logo, i kept the idea of the previous one but made it look much more rough and sketching which fits perfectly into my idea of ALT and goes well with the image i want to create for the website. The rugged edges are generic for a rock sort of look and i think it the detail isn't overwhelming and doesn't not distract the audience from the main point of the logo.
