Logo Research

Before i began coming up with idea's for my own logo for my project i researched current TV channel logo's to get a good idea of what is effective and what would look best for my genre of channel.
Below are some successful channel logo's:

This logo is MTV's generic signature, the colours scheme is extremely simple and the artwork is bold and quite plain. Though plain and in some ways 'dull', it is recognised globally as MTV networks logo, showing that simple can be the most effective. Also, as MTV have various subsidary channels, this main logo is not committed to any stereotype to a genre.

NME's logo is pretty similar to the MTV one, the simplicity and boldness are the same, though NME have their signature red tied in with it.
The logo is effective because you can easily read what is says but for those similar to NME's other products such as the companies magazine and radio, you can recognise the logo.

Kerrang TV offers the same music and programmes as my tv channel would, and so this is something i should take into account when designing my logo. You can tell that this logo belongs to a rock/alternative channel due to the rough look of the name, it is generic of this genre of music to have something looking scruffy and rough, the opposite to tidy and neat which in fact relates to the music itself.

VH1 is a tv channels that caters for pop music fans, people who listen to chart songs and popular trendy bands and artists. This is very much displayed via the logo, the colours are bright and edgey and the logo looks smooth and "hip". This is something i will be avoiding for ALT tv.
